We should not underestimate or overlook the power of the Lord’s tender mercies. The simpleness, the sweetness, and the constancy of the tender mercies of the Lord will do much to fortify and protect us in the troubled times in which we do now and will yet live. When words cannot provide the solace we need or express the joy we feel, when it is simply futile to attempt to explain that which is unexplainable, when logic and reason cannot yield adequate understanding about the injustices and inequities of life, when mortal experience and evaluation are insufficient to produce a desired outcome, and when it seems that perhaps we are so totally alone, truly we are blessed by the tender mercies of the Lord and made mighty even unto the power of deliverance (see 1 Ne. 1:20).
-Elder David A. BednarOf the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
The week before last was a very busy week with lots of things to post about but it was followed up by a very sick week with no energy left for posting. So now that it seams we are on the mend I will try and get caught up.
On April 9th ShiAnne had her first grade program. She was very excited about it. She had all the song memorized and had been singing them around the house for a couple weeks. She also had a speaking part. "We would like to share a traditional Hawaiian hula for you, the hukilau." and if asked she will preform it for you. I think it is pretty cute but I am her mom after all.
That week she also turned seven. Can you believe my baby is seven? I can't. That mean in one year she gets baptized. I have a lot to teach her before then. One year before she becomes accountable and I become accountable for all the things I haven't taught her that I should have. Any who, back to the point. On Friday we had the big birthday party. We did a little different type of party then we had done before, another sign that my baby is getting bigger. We had it in the evening. The wore there there pajamas. We had pizza. My sister-in-law Amber came and helped me and we put makeup on and painted the fingernails of all the little girls. (Thank you, thank you, thank you Amber! for giving up your Friday night. I would have never got it done with out you. We of course had cake and ice cream and presents and after that it was suppose to be a movie party. They watched a little of the movie and then asked if they could go down stairs and play house. I was fine with that. All the little girls went down stairs and had fun just playing for the last hour of the party.
The best part about this was that about a half hour before the party was over, Amber's husband, Shiloh's brother, Micah showed up. (We were planning a little game of settlers after the party) He came in and all three of the adult were longed on the couches and you couldn't even here any sounds from the kids playing down stairs. We had to reassure him that we really were hosting a birthday party for a bunch of little girls.
ShiAnne told me it was the best party yet. I thought it went pretty good too.
That's right Mom and Dad didn't have to do a thing.
She still needs a little work on steering and focusing (I think Lizzy may always need to work on focusing.) but we have all summer to bring her up to speed.
As for this other girl she just continues to loose her teeth and now she talks with a lisp.
When we have done our very best, we may still experience disappointments, but we will not be disappointed in ourselves. -Julie B. Beck
There is always the danger that we may just do the work for the sake of the work. This is where the respect and the love and the devotion come in- that we do it to God, to Christ, and that's why we try to do it as beautifully as possible.
