We should not underestimate or overlook the power of the Lord’s tender mercies. The simpleness, the sweetness, and the constancy of the tender mercies of the Lord will do much to fortify and protect us in the troubled times in which we do now and will yet live. When words cannot provide the solace we need or express the joy we feel, when it is simply futile to attempt to explain that which is unexplainable, when logic and reason cannot yield adequate understanding about the injustices and inequities of life, when mortal experience and evaluation are insufficient to produce a desired outcome, and when it seems that perhaps we are so totally alone, truly we are blessed by the tender mercies of the Lord and made mighty even unto the power of deliverance (see 1 Ne. 1:20).

Fashback Fridays

Lori and I at the Utah State Fair 9 years ago. This is just before our lives began to change in drastic ways but long live the tradition of going to the fair together.

Flashback Fridays

BYU LIFE

Most of these pictures were taken freshman year. I guess I was to busy dating Shiloh to take any pictures the next year. In fact we only have a couple pictures taken of us while we were dating.

Something about my first year at BYU was so much fun that I will always treasure the memories, maybe it was the freedom, maybe it was pretending to be grown up when we really weren't, maybe in was the meir act of trying to prove yourself but I think most of it had to do with the people you see in the following photos.

Roommates, minus one and adding in Will. He was one of the guys that was their so much they could have been counted as roommates and seeing as how Susy eventually married him, I guess that was okay.

clockwise: pic 1 Jillian, she was a roommate my sophomore year but so cute that I had to add her. pic 2 Andrew and Dave, more guys that could have called our dorm home. pic 3 Kim. pic 4 a group date.

It may not be obvious but these guys were some of the coolest guys in our freshman ward. The interaction we had with these guys was priceless. It was a service competition of sorts that started with our dishes being done and ended when these guys kidnapped us and taking us up to the top of D.T. towers. At that point the competition may have been over but friendships we developed during this time continued on.
clockwise: pic 1 That night on top of D.T. towers. pic 2 The guys singing a song they made up for us to the tune of summer of '69. pics 3&4 Hiking Arches National Park after finals.

clockwise: pic 1 Sunday dinner at my parents house, pic 2 Everyone crowded into my dad's brand new semi-truck. pics 3&4 Erick opening his mission call in our apartment.

clockwise: pics 1&2 Studying for a test. I don't think I did so well on that one and I think Jesse studied more later without us. pic 3 Anne Marie, Danelle & Jesse, pic 4 Nap time, I think I came in to talk to Jesse but ended up falling a sleep. What can you expect from sleep deprived college kids.

The "Wedding Wall" this was done a a mockery of the way BYU has reminders of weddings everywhere. It came as quite a shock to me when I first started there 3 weeks after graduation from high school and thus the wedding wall was created.

I have very fond memories of my time at BYU, I am so glad I went there and sad that I didn't keep in better touch with the people in these pictures. I always hope that someday I will run into them in some random place... I guess I will just have to wait and see.
I always tell Shiloh it is more fun to be married then not married but it was more fun to go to BYU single then it was married. Does that make any sense? I am now raising up 3 little cougars of my own, although ShiAnne is determined to go to BYU Idaho, because she think it would be so much fun to live by my cousins farm. Well Natalie and Aaron I guess in another 12 years you will have some company for Sunday dinners. :)

Flashback Fridays

In an attempt to organize my life I want to start some regular post. This will be one of them. Stay tune if you have been a part of my life in the past and I know you read my blog you may show up.
But today an ode to my first car, my first step towards freedom and adventure, my '79 Chevy Nova. I love this car. Aaahhh the memories.
