Well we are going to try.

So today was the first day of school and here are the pictures.


ShiAnne's first day of 4th grade.

Lizzy's first day of 2nd grade.

When did they get so big? It makes me want to cry.

So this is our best first day of school story. To say that ShiAnne loves school and was soooo excited for the first day of school would be an understatement. She made a count down chain at the beginning of August and has been counting down ever sense. Lizzy just feeds off of her excitement. Last night the clothes were laid out and they were ready to go to bed. At 4 o'clock this morning I woke up to use to the bathroom and was pretty sure I could hear the girls talking down stairs. I decided to go and investigate. I was surprised when I saw that the light in their bedroom was on but them I was shocked when I opened the door and they were sitting in the middle of their room playing cards! WHAT IN THE WORLD! They told me they were to excited to sleep. Silly girls! I made them get back in bed and turn off the lights and guess what? They fell back to sleep. When I went up stairs I told Shiloh about this and we lay in our beds laughing. What kind of nerds are we raising? You would think it was Christmas or something.

Okay that was our funny story and this is our not funny story.

Yesterday afternoon Gideon was jumping off the couch like he does all the time. I didn't even think to tell him to stop this is a normal thing at our house but then he landed on his foot wrong and started crying. I could tell from his cry that it was a real hurt. He wouldn't walk on it at first but then last night he started hobbling around on it so I was hopping it would be alright in the morning. When morning came he wouldn't walk in it at all, so while the girls headed off to the first day of school we headed to the doctors office. The foot was swollen and the doctor was surprised when the ex-rays came back and there was no brake. He told us that usually in little kids the bone will give before the ligaments and tendons do but there was no brake to be seen so he wrapped it in an ace bandage, told us to how to take care of it and sent us home. Gideon wouldn't walk on it at all today. I am hopping he will do better tomorrow because that kid is heavy!

The girls had a great first day of school and I think we are going to have a great year!

Brokens

This past weekend we went to my cousin Chantelle's home coming. It was a great weekend. She did a great job reporting on her mission and we had a lot of fun visiting with everyone. Late afternoon on Sunday, when it was time to go and we had sent everyone to the bathroom and I was making the rounds saying goodbye to everyone, Lizzy was playing on the tramp getting her last few jumps in. She was playing with my cousin's girl her same age and they were the only to on the tramp when she fell and landed on her foot funny. She started crying and screaming, "my foot, my foot, I broke my foot, I broke my foot, I need to go to the hospital." I figured she had just rolled her ankle and that she was over reacting a little (sometimes Lizzy does that). We got her calmed down and hopped in the car for our 4 hour drive home.
Even after we got in the car she kept saying it was hurting and before we got an hour down the road we could see it swelling. We stopped at a Wal-mart right off the freeway and got so ibuprofen and zip-lock bags to put ice in. We iced her foot on the way home and she feel asleep before we got home but the foot was still swollen. I decided if she still couldn't walk on it in the morning I'd take her into the doctors. The next morning the foot seamed about the same.
We got into our doctor (whom we love) early Monday morning. They x-rayed her foot and he thought it looked like she had fractured her growth plate in her ankle. Because it was growth plate and you have to make sure it heals right he got us an appointment with a podiatrist that afternoon.
The idea of going to a specialist made me worry a little but when we got there he was relay nice and pretty much told us the exact same thing our doctor had told us, (way to go Dr. Hoggard). She had fractured the growth plate and she would have to wear a cast for 3 week. He reassured me that these brake usually heal with no problem and that he will check and make sure when we come back in three weeks.

Here is Lizzy hanging out on the couch when we got home. It was an emotionally exhausting day for both of us.

She can walk on her cast and is doing great now. She even has this funny hop skip jump thing she does to kind of run. We have given her a little bit of ibuprofen but it really hasn't bugged her much.

Now we just pray that everything heals right.

By the way that is three kids and three cast and if anyone is counting I only have tree kids.

Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without.

It is suppose to get warm next week, so I got to work. I have been turning holey pant into shorts. I liked the results of this so much last year I have been saving their pants all winter.

We figure Lizzy has a pant life of about 4 1/2 months. In her defence, three of these pant actually got to short instead of ripping out in the knee. Not in her defense 7 pairs are for Lizzy only 3 for ShiAnne. I guess if you don't count the ones that got to short that is only 4 to 3 ratio between the girls. I have at least one more pair for each girl that is just starting to rip out.

Kid Say...another one

This morning I was telling Lizzy about some silly movie we are going to watch tonight. I had told her about it earlier in the week. When I reminded her that we were going to watch it to night she said, "Maybe that is why I am excited. I just wake up every morning feeling excited about something and I don't know what." No wonder the kid can't sleep in. She is always excited. I need to take a page out of her book. I just thought that was the most awesome attitude to have.

Kids Say......

The other day the girls were cleaning up from doing some painting and I was listening to them from the other room. ShiAnne was trying to hurry and said, "I need to go my hiney in gear." The Lizzy in her sweetest little girl voice while giggling say, "I love it when you say hiney."

The girls like all kids there age like to make cards and note but often don't know how to spell what they want to say. So of course, they will ask me how to spell it and then I will tell them letter by letter how to spell it. When they are finished writing down one letter they will ask, "what's next?" and I will tell them the next letter. Gideon also likes to play this game. Being two he doesn't know how to write any of his letter but he will get a piece of paper and a pencil and ask me, "what's next?" I will tell him a letter and he will draw a circle or a scribble and then ask me, "mom what's next?" I have decided this may be great way to teach him to spell his name. So when we play this game I always spell out his name for him. I don't know if it is working but at least he feels like he is every bit as big as the girls.

February

In my lack of blogging this month there are a few things I forgot to mention.

1. Happy Birthday to the most awesome Husband and Dad. He really is the best and does everything he can to make sure we are happy. So glad I got you babe.

We celebrated at home on his birthday and then that weekend Shiloh and I went to Rodizio's and a movie.

2. I tried my hand at Lizzy's hair again. I think I'm getting better.

About a month ago. Lizzy started crying lots about combing her hair. I told her she had two choices. If she wanted it long enough to do pony tails and pig tails then she couldn't cry when we combed it. If the snarls were to much for her then we could cut it again. The crying stopped but about a week ago she started asking to get it cut. So I went ahead and did it. Her hair is so fine and straight (like mine) I really think the short is so much cuter on her.

3. This cute dude, well this cute dude learned how to use the potty and we are all very happy about it!

4. Thanks to my sweetie Valentines was great too, but I forgot to take pictures of all the roses and valentines and going out with the family for the evening. We all had lots of fun and felt lots of love.

We took the kids and went back to the bridge on the Provo River Trail where we got engaged, 10 years earlier. It had been a long time sense we had been there and it brought back a lot of fun memories.

That is the highlights for February. I will try to stay more up to date this next month.

Kindergarten!!

The fact that this post is over a week late has nothing to do with the level of love for this sweetie it is just how life has landed and that is that.

but I was wondering......can we say EXCITED!!!!

She has a GREAT first day!

and taught me a great lesson but more on that latter.

Shopping with Grandma

Starting with the 4th birthday and every year after until they turn 12 Grandma takes each grand kid shopping and they get to pick out what ever they want. It is always fun to see what they end up getting. This is what Lizzy ended up with, a new swimming suit and jammies. What 5 year old when told they can get whatever they want gets clothes? I wonder if this is a bad sign for her teen age years or if I will just always know to get her, clothes. I am fine with that as long as she isn't too picky or doesn't think she needs designer clothes.

Lizzy's Birthday Party

(As a for note I do someday plan on getting all the way caught up but as for now this is about a month and a half old.)

PARTY!!!!!

Our Sweet Lizzy turned 5 this summer I can't believe she is getting ready for kindergarten. They just get too big too fast. She wanted a water party so they played in our little pool, used the slip and slide, threw water balloons and just played around outside.

I usually do some kind of fancy cake for their birthdays but this is what Lizzy wanted and it made life a lot easier on me.

We had to come inside because the breeze picked up and we couldn't keep the candles lit but as rainy as the June was we were just thankful to have a it be a sunny day for the party.

The Gang!

We sure love our Lizzy. She keeps us on our toes but is so sweet it makeup for it. We are excited to see her learn and grow this year in school, just as long as she continues to say she's still my baby.

Dance

From January to the beginning of June the girls were in dance and they finished off with their dance experience with a recital. They both did great and look so cute!

Thanks to their Grandparents and Micah, Amber and Tage for coming and supporting them.

After the concert they were very excited (no stage fright here) and it was decided that lots and lots of pictures needed to be taken

I would like to add special recognition to Aunt Phylicia who was also at the dance concert and I forgot to mention. So from are whole family we would like to thank you Phylicia for coming and joining in the fun with us.

Girls

Someone learned how to ride a two-wheeler.

Guess who taught her?

That's right Mom and Dad didn't have to do a thing.

She still needs a little work on steering and focusing (I think Lizzy may always need to work on focusing.) but we have all summer to bring her up to speed.

As for this other girl she just continues to loose her teeth and now she talks with a lisp.
