We should not underestimate or overlook the power of the Lord’s tender mercies. The simpleness, the sweetness, and the constancy of the tender mercies of the Lord will do much to fortify and protect us in the troubled times in which we do now and will yet live. When words cannot provide the solace we need or express the joy we feel, when it is simply futile to attempt to explain that which is unexplainable, when logic and reason cannot yield adequate understanding about the injustices and inequities of life, when mortal experience and evaluation are insufficient to produce a desired outcome, and when it seems that perhaps we are so totally alone, truly we are blessed by the tender mercies of the Lord and made mighty even unto the power of deliverance (see 1 Ne. 1:20).

February

In my lack of blogging this month there are a few things I forgot to mention.

1. Happy Birthday to the most awesome Husband and Dad. He really is the best and does everything he can to make sure we are happy. So glad I got you babe.

We celebrated at home on his birthday and then that weekend Shiloh and I went to Rodizio's and a movie.

The triple layer lemon cake I made him.
Singing Happy Birthday.

2. I tried my hand at Lizzy's hair again. I think I'm getting better.
About a month ago. Lizzy started crying lots about combing her hair. I told her she had two choices. If she wanted it long enough to do pony tails and pig tails then she couldn't cry when we combed it. If the snarls were to much for her then we could cut it again. The crying stopped but about a week ago she started asking to get it cut. So I went ahead and did it. Her hair is so fine and straight (like mine) I really think the short is so much cuter on her.

3. This cute dude, well this cute dude learned how to use the potty and we are all very happy about it!

4. Thanks to my sweetie Valentines was great too, but I forgot to take pictures of all the roses and valentines and going out with the family for the evening. We all had lots of fun and felt lots of love.

We took the kids and went back to the bridge on the Provo River Trail where we got engaged, 10 years earlier. It had been a long time sense we had been there and it brought back a lot of fun memories.

That is the highlights for February. I will try to stay more up to date this next month.

Happy Birthday Shiloh!

Today is not Shiloh's birthday. His birthday was almost 3 weeks ago but I have been a slacker blogger. I just hit a slump but I wanted to post about his Birthday because it was so much fun and I finally did it right.
First you need to know a few things about us. I HATE!! February. It is always are very tightest month, there is never any extra money to do any thing fun and then it is topped off by the pressure of valentines and Shiloh's birthday. Usually very little if any thing gets done for these to holidays and it make me crazy. Well this year I thought and planned ahead. (I know, so not like me.) We still didn't do much for Valentines day but Shi's birthday was awesome.
For Christmas most of Shiloh's family got gift certificates to the Olive Garden at the time we mentioned that it would be fun to all go together. A week or so latter Shiloh said it would be fun if everyone could go out to dinner together for his birthday. I didn't say much but I made a mental note of this. I week or two before his birthday I started talking to his family without Shiloh knowing if they wanted to do this for his birthday. Luckily everyone still had there gift card and were on board. I just told Shiloh that we would be celebrating his birthday on Friday and I wouldn't tell him anything else. He new we had no money the gift card was actually mine so he had forgotten about it and he knew nothing of the extra $20 I had been hiding in my wallet for a month, it covered the extra cost of bring the kids (they had to go to dad's birthday party) .
When he got home I was cleaning the house like people were coming over so that is what he figured was happening but then I told him we would be leaving in 20 minutes and he needed to get ready. As we were leaving, thinking that we might have to wait outside the restaurant for a while I made him go back and get his coat. He couldn't figure out what we were doing. When we pulled up at he restaurant he remembered we had the gift card and was excited to go out to eat but the real surprise came when we walked in the restaurant and almost his whole family was there.

We had so much fun eating dinner all together and then we headed back to our house for cheese cake and games. After, Shiloh kept telling me how much fun that was. He liked looking forward to the idea of doing something but not knowing what it was. I guess when you are use to nothing a little something goes a long way. Thank to all the Sampsons that were willing to come celebrated Shiloh's birthday with us and Happy Birthday Baby your awesome and we love you!!

My plans and Shiloh's Greatness

Okay Thanksgiving is in 6 days so thing have got to start cooking around here. (No pun intended). This is my plan for the day. I am writting it down and putting it out there so that I have to be responsiable for it and to give some props to Shiloh.

Todays to do list.

-Laundry, lots and lots of laundry, washed, dried folded and put away

-clean Gideons room

-dishes

-sweeping

-picking up the living room

-and still be a mom which means finnishing bathtime, give treats make lunch and at times entertain little kids.

The best part comes tonight. Shiloh is really good at doing this and some times I don't give him enough props for it but tonight Shiloh is staying home with all the kids and I am leaving by myself. This was all his idea. I was telling him I wanted to get my hair cut before all the holiday parties and festivities started and he told me to make an apointment for tonight and that I should go by myself so I could relax and start getting some Christmas shopping done. I love getting my hair cut and I love shopping. I am looking forward to the peace and quite of being by myself and moving at my speed. Thank you baby!

Tomorrow it is back to the grind stone.

tomorrows to do list

- deeep clean both bathrooms

-mop the floors

-go through the boxes of stuff from our parents houses that we have never wanted to touch, de-junk and store properly.

-clean out the window wells

finnish hanging Christmas light on the house (not to be turned on until after Thanksgiving.)

-most importantly watch the BYU utah game. Go Cougars!!!!!

Shiloh has his own big project that he is working on so wish us luck to get it all done.

Black Eye

Today at work Shiloh had a fight with the dolly. ( Is that how you spell it when it is a tool used for carrying heavy or large objects? not the baby kind my girls play with.) Guess who won? You know how if you step on a shovel wrong it will pop up and hit you in the face. Same idea, except he accidental dropped a package on the dolly.

His eye is all black a blue already it bled a little too. I feel bad for him, but he is tough though. He will be okay.

If it gets more gruesome I will post that too. Aren't you looking forward to that?

Date Night

On Friday My sweet husband called me to say he had a babysitter and we were going on a date. Yea!!!! I of course just like everyone love date night. Shiloh's brother Micah and his wife Amber took the kids and we headed off on our date. It started with dinner at Apple Bees and after we ate until we could eat no more we went to Indiana Jones 4. This movie has had mixed reviews from our family and friends but it was Indiana Jones we had to see it. So in my opinion.... it was really funny and who can resist that feeling that wells up inside of you when you here the Indiana Jones music? It just make me smile. I don't remember the other Indiana Jones movies being this funny but I have not seen them in a long time. It is one of those movies that you just sit down, relax, put the brain in neutral and enjoy the ride. The perfect movie to enjoy in the middle of a stressful week (which we had been having). It was a little science fictionee (ya that's a word) for Indiana Jones and you could see some of the plot line coming from a mile away but I really enjoyed the spoof on Indiana Jones being old and I laughed a lot. After the movie we ended our date with a trip to Walmart. Ya, I know, now your officially jealous but hey I needed some stuff, we were already in the Walmart parking lot, and I had no kids with me, how could I resist? All in all it was a really fun night, lucky me.

Husband tag

What is his name? Shiloh

How long have you been married? 8 years

How long did you date? 8 months

Who said I love you first? I did, on accident. I was so going to wait for him to say it first, but I said it first and he said it back and it all worked out.

Who is taller? He is

Who can sing better? Neither one of us can hold a tune very well but I know all the words to songs and he still struggles with I am a Child of God. So I would say I sing better.

Who is smarter? We are both smart in our own way. I wouldn't say that either one of us is smarter then the other.

Who does the laundry? I do. Sometimes I can get his help in putting it away though.

Who pays the bills? We do it together. I do the actual writing out of the bills but he does all the stuff at the bank. It is vary much a joint effort.

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Shiloh does. Both our parents sleep the opposite way so when we got married we decided we wanted to be different from them.

Who mows the lawn? We both do. I have been doing it a little more then Shiloh because he has been working so many hours and I like the work out but last time I mowed it really did a number on my allergie ridden eyes so he might have to do it for a while.

Who cooks dinner? I do but if Shiloh is home he helps I call him my sui chief

Who drives? Shiloh drives if he is awake but if he is sleepy I drive. It is really all up to how he feels. I don't care if I drive or not.

Who is more stubborn? I am. Shiloh is soooo easy going.

Who kissed who first? Shiloh kissed me first but I did everything I could to get him to kiss me.

Who asked who out first? I asked him out first. It was a spur of the moment thing. I like his smile what can I say.

Who proposed? He proposed to me.

Who has more siblings? Shiloh does. He is the oldest of 7, I am the youngest of 5.

Who wears the pants? I think I am the more dominant personality but I make sure he gets to were the pants and I think or I know he likes that.

What do you love most about your man? So many things. I like that he is always nice to everyone and always talks good about people even behind there backs. I like that he is such a hard worker and He is always happy and almost never complains. I always call him the eternal optimise. I could go on but I think I will stop here.

Going Ons

Lizzy was invited to a birthday party this weekend. It was a princess party and they all dressed up as princesses. Here is our Beautiful Cinderella!!

My sister and her husband went out of town for a few days and one of their girls got to come and stay with us for a couple nights. I love this, it actually makes my job easier. They go down stairs and play for hours at a time in fact tonight they cleaned up the basement as they played. Our basement is unfinished except for the one room ShiAnne and Lizzy share but seeing as how I am married to a carpet guy we have a puzzle of carpet pieces on the floor and that is where we keep all the toys. We love Ahnika!!!

Cookie Cravings!!! Shiloh decided he needed some chocolate chip cookies tonight so he went to work at it. Notice the goatee in the picture he has been trying to grow a goatee for about a week now but despite all the hair on his head and eyebrow his beard is quite sparse, it doesn't lead to the best goatee. He just kind of looked scruffy. On Sunday he decided it didn't look that good. Tonight he shaved it off.

After I posted this picture I realized you can hardly see his goatee. Good thing I pointed it out to you it would have been a shame to miss.

Eight is Great

"Indeed, the trick is to enjoy the journey, traveling hand in hand, in sunshine and storm, as companions who love each other." -Gordon B. Hinckley, Standing for Something

We celebrated our eighth anniversary this week. Every year it feels the same, it has gone by in the blink of an eye yet it feels like we have been together forever. This years anniversary was extra fun. My sister took our kids for the night and most the next day and we were able to go stay the night at Anniversary Inn in Salt Lake. We went out to dinner at the Red Lobster on Monday night. We got specialty drinks and everything, after all we were celebrating. Tuesday morning we slept in, watched a movie and then Shiloh took me golfing. I have only bee golfing once before it was my freshman year of college on a first date, it wasn't so fun. So Shiloh thought it was time to take me golfing again. This time Shiloh was an excellent, patient teacher and while I'm not a natural we did have lots of fun. The best part was actually being able to have a real conversation with Shiloh, that he was awake for and no kids interrupted. I'm proud to say we didn't even talk about the kids that much. It was good for the soul to get away relax and really enjoy each others company for more then just a couple hours at a time. Did I mention it has been a great eight years and I love my husband, I feel so lucky to have him.

Unexpected Suprise

I had two reasons for wanting to make this blog, one so I could keep a record of all the cute thing my kids say and do and two so that I would recognize and write down all of my blessings. I was blessed today it was an unexpected surprise. Around 8:50 while I was doing ShiAnne's hair and getting her ready for school, I got a phone call. It was Shiloh calling to tell me he was coming home. For those of you who don't know Shiloh has two jobs. Early in the morning about 2 a.m. Shiloh starts his job at FedEx as a package handler. After he works there for about 5 hours he might gat a nap in his truck and then he heads to his real job as a carpet installer. He usually works about a 15 hour day and when he comes home he sleeps (I don't blame him). Luckily he doesn't have to work weekends, so we try to make the best of them but sometimes the weeks are long and hard, on both of us. So when I got a call at 9 a.m. saying he was coming home it was a very welcome and unexpected surprise. He got to his first job and they were still painting. Not ready for the carpet and so with nothing else to do he headed home. He got home the same time as I got back form taking ShiAnne to school. The little cutie, he had brought me a danish from a Bakery I really like in Lehi. How sweet! Then he helped me make the bed, a job made so much easier with two, he bathed Lizzy and Gideon while I showered, was able to go pick ShiAnne up from school, so I didn't have to wake Gideon up from his nap and came with us to get Gideon pictures done. It was so much easier to pick what pictures to get with his help. He has never been there before. I have always had to do this on my own and I have such a hard time deciding. After that he had to go back to work but it sure was nice to have him home for a morning. The kids enjoyed it too.

My Story
I have been married to Shiloh for 8 years in June and we have three great Kids. ShiAnne is 6, Lizzy is 3 and a half, the half is very important, she will be 4 in about a month and Gideon will be 1 in less then two weeks. According to our kids Shiloh and I are old and thats good enough. Shiloh is the hardest worker I know. He works 15-16 hour days Mon. - Fri. but keeps the weekends open so we can have some good family time. The kids always ask, Mom when is it Dad's stay home day again?" Everyone loves Saturdays just for that reason! I'm lucky to have him. I just wish he could be home more.
As for me I'm a stay at home mom. Which so often means I don't stay at home but now that the school year is coming to an end things will slow down for a little while. But I love being a stay at home mom, I don't love being a maid, but I do love the rest of it and being at home with my kids. (Okay you caught me I don't really love cleaning up throw up, changing poopy diapers, listening to whining, getting up in the middle of the night, and having to count to five before I can get anyone to do any thing but the benifits and perks of the job are definitely worth it.)
